AU101DSD
Addressable Intelligent Duct Smoke Detector
This Addressable Intelligent Duct Smoke Detector houses smoke sensor for monitoring the level of smoke in the airstream of duct work sections of the HVAC system. This device intended to be used for addressable automatic fire detection system to detect presence of smoke for fire warning. This device measures the smoke level in protected areas and analyses the level of smoke and verify with alarm level setting. When smoke level crosses the set level, it communicates to fire warning system control panel along with its ID. Alarm activated sensor, continuously interacts with control panel to update the real time smoke level exists at reported location. If smoke level rises, action can be taken accordingly. Similarly if it gets reduced, action can be taken for normalcy by rescue staff. The Smoke sensor works on photoelectric principle. Main sensor component is special LED to illuminate the smoke chamber. This LED illumination level gets reduced due to its aging. Hence its sensitivity goes out of sensitivity range. Therefore it requires a periodical calibration to ensure its functional objective. Refer IS 2189 for more details.

What is a smoke detector and how does it work?
A smoke detector is a measuring instrument that measures the level of smoke in its surveillance. It will raise an alarm only when the level of smoke exceeds its pre-set upper limit/threshold values.
Photoelectric/Optical Smoke detectors work on a common light scattering principle. A smoke detector contains a chamber that consists of a light emitter usually a LED and a light a sensitive device like a photodiode that receives all the light directly emitted by the LED.
When the smoke enters the chamber, the intensity of light received by the photodiode reduces due to the density of smoke. If the intensity of received light drops below a pre-set threshold level, the fire alarm is triggered confirming fire.
The unit of measure for the level of smoke is Obscuration/foot (Obs/ft).
Photoelectric smoke detectors are highly sensitive to visual particles of smoke and also respond quickly to smoldering fires.
Addressable smoke detectors are wired using 2*1.5 sqm copper cables from the control panel.
